Dinner at Stonewood Tavern

Check out the review of my dinner experience from a local favorite of the Lake Hopatcong area in New Jersey β€” Stonewood Tavern.

Dinner time seems really busy, so just call and make a reservation just in case because even the bar was fully seated. (973) 347-7300 The waitress was super friendly as was the hostess and the service was prompt. Because we’re still living in the COVID-19 era, masks are required upon entry and the restaurant staff wore their masks the entire time. If you’re still hibernating due to COVID, check out their takeout menu and order pickup or delivery.

Espresso Martini

I like to start dinner off with a cocktail, so I ordered the JalapeΓ±o Gold Old Fashioned, which was a good mix between a spicy margarita and a whiskey cocktail. Stonewood has a great beer selection, so check those out too. So this drink was right in my wheelhouse. Just a foodie tip… Always order specialty items and customer favorites, when trying a new restaurant. I read so many Google reviews about Stonewood Tavern and nine out of ten reviews mentioned the same popular appetizer dish… That being said, we ordered the Grilled Octopus served with capers, red onions, and rice wine vinegar. Unfortunately, we found the octopus to be a little tough, meaning it may have been slightly overcooked. But, I do believe in second chances, so I’ll give the octopus another try during my next visit. The Shrimp Pasta was so tasty and the portions were generous. I believe there were six whole shrimp, which is good because you know how much I hate when restaurants skimp out on the meat or fish in a pasta dish. My dining partner ordered the Double-Cut Porkchop, which came with mashed potatoes and grilled vegetables. My only negative comment about this dish is that the vegetables were a little too salty. We split the New York Cheesecake drizzled with raspberry sauce for dessert and I also enjoyed the Espresso Martini 🍸. It was a hard choice because there were several other cocktails in the β€œAfter Dinner Drinks” section of the dessert menu. Maybe next time, I’ll also try the Homemade Apple Crisp, which I saw on two other tables before we left the restaurant and the Irish Coffee.
